Beijing Winter Olympics comes to Het Lichtpunt Primary School

This week, China Cultural Center Den Haag has joined hands with Basisschool Het Lichtpunt in Rhoon to launch a Winter Olympics Sports Week at the school from 31 January to 4 February.

Het Lichtpunt Primary School is located Rhoon, in the southern suburbs of Rotterdam and has a total of 440 pupils, 17 classes and eight grades. The children's ages range from 4 to 12 years old. Physical education is a special feature of this school, and the school is also in the running to be one of the five best sports primary schools in the Netherlands.

To better stimulate children's interest in winter sports, the China Cultural Centre Den Haag and Het Lichtpunt Primary School had extended discussion the design of the project, aiming to use the existing facilities of the school guiding students of different age groups into the exploration of winter games; at the same time, the school is decorated with 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games themes to build up the vibe for winter sporting.

"2022 Beijing Winter Olympics Theme Week"at the Lichtpunt Primary School

On 31 January, Het Lichtpunt Primary School kicked off its "2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Week". During the week, Het Lichtpunt Primary School will introduce students to the basics of the Winter Olympics and the host city of Beijing in the classroom, while physical education will be the major focus of the week. Considering the school's sports facilities, the P.E. teachers have been super creative in incorporating classic Winter Olympic sports such as curling, ski jumping and ice skating into the classes. There were puzzles as well as "hands-on" activities to match the comprehensive and athletic ability of the children in different age groups.
