Chinese Painting
Chinese painting is one of the oldest artistic traditions in the world. Painting in the traditional style is known today in Chinese as guóhuà, meaning 'national' or 'native painting', as opposed to Western styles of art which became popular in China in the 20th century. Chinese ink painting is characterized by shifting viewpoints, subtle colors and rich mood. Chinese painting sometimes only requires water and black ink, but for certain themes there are also more colors involved, which is sometimes referred as color painting.
Starting from the year 2021, the China Cultural Center in The Hague will offer an online course on traditional Chinese ink painting: "Chinese Ink Dutch Water". Through this course, you will be guided by Mr. Lesheng Zhou, a well-known Chinese painter based in The Hague, to explore how to express emotions through traditional Chinese ink painting.
