On May 31, 2025, the China Cultural Center in The Hague celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival with a hands-on tea gathering, co-hosted by Poetic ink and Yum Cha. Fifteen Dutch guests participated in making traditional zongzi (rice dumplings) and herbal sachets.
The event began with a short talk on the history and customs of the festival. Liza Lin introduced traditions like hanging mugwort, dragon boat races, and the story of Qu Yuan. Guests then enjoyed red bean zongzi paired with premium oolong and black tea, while learning about Chinese tea culture.
In the highlight session, participants made fragrant sachets using traditional Chinese herbs. The event concluded with a group photo, with many expressing appreciation for the cultural experience.
The Center will continue to host similar events to promote Chinese traditions in the Netherlands.
